With its keen depictions of complicated family relationships and emotional taboos, her work has been met with both critical praise and commercial success. Her first novel was nominated for Bokhandlerprisen and won Ungdommens kritikerpris in 2020. In 2023 she was awarded the Bjørg Vik-prize for what the prize jury described as her ‘uncommonly sharp observations’, through which she unmasks ‘the petty and the shameful’ in both her characters and readers.

Aubert graduated from Skrivekunstakademiet in Hordaland in 2002, and holds degrees in both literature and journalism.
