{"id":52709,"date":"2022-07-21T12:33:29","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T12:33:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nordichouse.is\/?post_type=event&#038;p=52709"},"modified":"2022-07-28T11:35:59","modified_gmt":"2022-07-28T11:35:59","slug":"songs-and-soup","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/nordichouse.is\/en\/event\/songs-and-soup\/","title":{"rendered":"Songs and soup"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle\">Songs and soup is a summer recital series where guests are treated to delicious soup by Chef Silla, followed by a classical vocal concert in the beautiful hall of the Nordic House in Reykjav\u00edk.<br \/>\nThe next concert in the series takes place on the 4th of August.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle\">\u00cdris Bj\u00f6rk Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir opera singer and Matthildur Anna G\u00edslad\u00f3ttir pianist will perform arias from various operas with prominent LGBTQ+ characters and talk about \u00cdris\u2018s recent research about the visibility of LGBTQ+ in operas as part of an informative and entertaining programme.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle\">The concert pieces are from different periods, from baroque composer H\u00e4ndel, classical composer Mozart to contemporary composers such as Nico Muhly and Ricky Ian Gordon. During the performance \u00cdris Bj\u00f6rk will take on the roles of various genders, castrati singers, historical figures and pants roles.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle\">By discussing the visibility of LGBTQ+ characters and storylines on the opera stage we can expore where they exist and how we can make additions or changes.
