A playful joy of storytelling, distinctive humour, and melancholy shine through in the nominated works, whilst the many facets of the picture book genre are also widely represented. The winner will be announced on 1 November in Helsinki<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-bodyfield field--type-entity-reference-revisions field--label-hidden field__items\">\n<div class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--default\">\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>This year\u2019s nominees also deal with more difficult topics of prejudice and making amends, as well as lead us through the horrors of war, terrorist attacks, and onwards towards hope and mutual understanding. Gender roles, identity, and ethnicity are also highlighted through the prism of children\u2019s logic, and new life is breathed into ancient calfskin manuscripts.
