Welcome!<\/strong><\/p>\n Program:<\/strong><\/p>\n 4-5 pm:\u00a0The North Atlantic: Fearless Creativity – Art talk on branding with Bibi\u00a0Bibi Chemnitz and\u00a0Gu\u00f0run Ludvig<\/strong> (Gudrun&Gudrun).<\/p>\n 5-6 pm: Visual artist Shoplifter<\/strong> and J\u00f3hanna Meth\u00fasalemsd\u00f3ttir, the creator of Kr\u00eda<\/strong> Jewelry, are two of the participants in The Weather Diaries exhibition at the Nordic House. Both women are Icelandic and for over 20 years they have cultivated their creativity in New York.\u00a0They will give the audience an insight into their practice and philosophy, sometimes touching on common themes as both are fascinated by the primitive desire of human beings to adorn and beautify themselves. Both of them create work that can exist comfortably in the grey area where art meets design and where the power of imagination is limitless.<\/p>\n 6-7 pm:\u00a0They will be joined by the performance artist and musician Krist\u00edn Anna Valt\u00fdsd\u00f3ttir,<\/strong> former member of Icelandic band m\u00fam. Krist\u00edn Anna has frequently collaborated with Shoplifter and appears as the Furling <\/em>in the photographs they created with Cooper and Gorfer for the Weather Diaries exhibition. \nThe Faroese brand Gu\u00f0run & Gu\u00f0run comprises of designer Gu\u00f0run Ludvig and her business partner Gu\u00f0run R\u00f3gvad\u00f3ttir. Gu\u00f0run Ludvig, with her delicate taste and distinct feel for material and colour, explores the intersection between traditional and new ways of hand knitting. In a climate of cheaply-produced must-have items, Gu\u00f0run & Gu\u00f0run\u2019s sweaters are long-lasting alternatives that do not compromise on style. Made from Faroese wool that has often been neglected, they are hand knitted by equitably employed women in different corners of the world. The patterns are reminiscent of classial grandfatherly styles, and certainly strike a chord with those craving a more meaningful consumer culture.
