She is a social worker by profession but in 2006 she published her first book, the autobiographical story\u00a0 Svinal\u00e4ngorna (Pigstalls) that immediately attracted attention. It tells of\u00a0 a Finnish family that moves to Sweden in the sixties in search of a better life. For her book Alakoski received the August-prize in 2006. The story has also been filmed starring Noomi Rapace\u00a0 and Ola Rapace winning the Nordic Council Film Prize in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>With her second book, H\u00e5pas du trifs bra i fengelset (2010) the author covers how excessive abuse and poverty\u00a0 passes from generation to generation those who moved from Finland to Sweden in search of a better life.\u00a0Social inheritance is of great concern in Alakoski\u00b4s work.<\/p>\n<p>Foto: Sara Mac Key<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aalto.is\/\">AALTO Bistro<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We recommend you make an evening out of it and book a table prior to the event at The Nordic House restaurant AALTO Bistro.
