{"id":29665,"date":"2021-05-31T17:23:23","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T17:23:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nordichouse.is\/?post_type=event&#038;p=29665"},"modified":"2021-07-01T22:10:04","modified_gmt":"2021-07-01T22:10:04","slug":"rockscramblers","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/nordichouse.is\/en\/event\/rockscramblers\/","title":{"rendered":"Rockscramblers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>&#8220;Out of shadows, creeping, crawling&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Our summer exhibition for children, <strong><em>Rockscramblers,<\/em> <\/strong>is inspired by the illustrated poetry of poet Mats S\u00f6derlund and illustrator Kathrina Skar\u00f0s\u00e1 that was published in the anthology <a href=\"https:\/\/www.norden.org\/en\/news\/new-ecocritical-anthology-nordic-childrens-and-young-peoples-literature\"><em>The Length and Breadth of the Nordic Region: Ecocritical currents in Nordic children\u2019s and young people\u2019s literature<\/em><\/a> earlier this year (2021) under the Swedish title <em>Stenskravlare<\/em>. The antology was produced by the Nordic House in Reykjav\u00edk and is a part of the three-year long project L\u00d8FTET which is financed by the Nordic Counsil of Ministry. This particular anthology is the second in a series of three that will be published and those will all be the result of nordic collaboration between different scholars, publishers, writers and illustrators that get the opportunity meet and work together on a yearly summer workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The poem <em>Rockscramblers <\/em>could be interpreted as the story of earth seen from the perspectives of stones and rocks and Skar\u00f0s\u00e1&#8217;s illustrations add a further meaning to the words by ending the story in a bright green and hopeful kind of way. On view are the illustrations and poetry in its original form and those interact with a mysterious recording of S\u00f6derlund himself reading his poem. Inspired by Skar\u00f0s\u00e1&#8217;s illustrations we have built a cave where young visitors can have a cozy time and try out our new climbing wall!
