A grass snake was seen as a house spirit, a holy animal that took care of homes and also symbolized fertility. People used to keep a grass snake in their homes believing it would give them luck, good harvest and wealth. Trees have also been important images and even characters in Lithuanian folk tales and mythology, often believed to be the seats of the souls of the dead. Educator Audroné Gedziuté will present the story “Eglė, the queen of grass snakes” in an interactive way in collaboration with an Icelandic teacher. Through playing around the story, participants will learn about Lithuanian culture from a creative angle.

Please register by sending email with full name, social security number and telephone number to hrafnhildur@nordichouse.is

The workshop is for free!

Lithuanian translation

Kūrybinių dirbtuvių vedėja Audronė Gedžiūtė drauge su islande mokytoja interaktyviai pristatys pasaką „Eglė žalčių karalienė“. Į kūrybines dirbtuves kviečiamos šeimos, ypač 5-10 þþmetų vaikai.
