One of the main characteristics of Aalto\u2018s life work is how he perceived his design as a Gesamtkunstwerk or a total work of art. Their goal was \u201cto sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means.\u201d Artek has through the years commissioned generations of Finnish and international designers, who have added great designs to the Artek portfolio: all of which are inspired by Aalto and true to his vision.
