She grew up in Br\u00f8nn\u00f8ysund in Nordland county in Norway and trained to be a teacher. She has worked as a reindeer herder, stage manager and playwright. Eira published a bilingual book in 2011, Ruohta muzetbeallji ruohta\/L\u00f8p svart\u00f8re l\u00f8p, which was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2012.
