The final concert of the 2015 season of Klass\u00edk \u00ed Vatnsm\u00fdrinni will take place on Wednesday November 11th at 8 pm at the Nordic House in Reykjav\u00edk. Women are the evening\u00b4s center of attention. The soprano Au\u00f0ur Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir and pianist Helga Brynd\u00eds Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir will perform songs by Hj\u00e1lmar Helgi Ragnarsson, Robert Schumann, Ermano Wolf-Ferrari and Joaquin Turina. The poems tell about women, their love and dreams. Whether it is in Icelandic, German, Italian or Spanish, we learn that love is not always eternal bliss, joy and sorrow goes hand in hand.
\nAu\u00f0ur Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir studied at the Reykjavik School of Singing and at the Stuttgart Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik und darstellende Kunst, in Germany. Au\u00f0ur was engaged at the Stadttheater in W\u00fcrzburg where she sang the main soprano role in numerous opera productions as well as in other opera houses in Germany and for the Icelandic Opera. Au\u00f0ur is an experienced concert singer and has given many song recitals and oratorios both in Germany, America and Iceland. She has performed with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and different Orchestras in Germany. Au\u00f0ur has been involved in few CD productions
\nHelga Brynd\u00eds Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir pursued her studies in Vienna and Helsinki after receiving her diploma from the Reykjavik College of Music. She has appeared as soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Helga Brynd\u00eds is active in Icelandic music life, as soloist and chamber music player as well as accompanist with singers.
\nAdmission fee is ISK 2000, ISK 1000 for senior citizens and disabled; free for students, 25 years old and younger. Tickets are available at the entrance.
\nAbout the 2015 concert series
\nThe aim of the series, Klass\u00edk \u00ed Vatnsm\u00fdrinni, is to give the audience a chance to hear the very best of Icelandic and foreign artists perform classical music. As the year of 2015 marks 100 years anniversary of the Voting rights for Women in Iceland, so the female singer has been prominent in this seventh year\u2018s programming.
\nThe concert series is a collaboration between the Icelandic Soloist Society and the Nordic House. Concert Board members are: Kristin Mj\u00f6ll Jakobsd\u00f3ttir, Hl\u00edf Sigurj\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir and Anna J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir.
