Assayas was awarded as Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival last year (2016) and has for many years been one of the most prominent film makers in France, making dozens of films that have received various awards and nominations. Assayas became famous in the 90s after his film,\u00a0<em>Irma Vep<\/em>\u00a0, premiered but the film is a multidimensional art work and the director\u2019s ode to film city Hong Kong. Assayas has since enjoyed great success with films such as\u00a0<em>Les Destin\u00e9es sentimentales<\/em>\u00a0(2000),\u00a0<em>Demonlover<\/em>(2002) and\u00a0<em>Clean<\/em>\u00a0(2004), all of which have been nominated for the Palm d\u2019Or at Cannes.<\/p>\n<p>Assayas is one of the 22 directors who participated in\u00a0<em>Paris, you t\u2019aime<\/em>\u00a0(2006) and he has also directed the TV series\u00a0<em>Carlos<\/em>\u00a0, about the life and work of terrorist Carlos The Jackal. The series was popular with both audiences and critics. Assayas\u2019 last three movies,\u00a0<em>Ace Maria<\/em>(2012),\u00a0<em>Sils Maria<\/em>\u00a0(2014) and\u00a0<em>Personal Shopper<\/em>\u00a0(2016) have all received various acknowledgments, and the last one landed him the best director award at the Cannes Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year we have three of Assayas\u2019 films in our program;\u00a0<em>Clouds of Sils Maria<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Disorder<\/em>\u00a0og\u00a0<em>Irma Vep<\/em>. Assayas will also host a masterclass in the Nordic House on Saturday 7th October at 2PM.
